2019 Grant Partner - Clean Energy Leadership Institute
The Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to innovative educational and leadership programmatic offerings. Through our 21-week Fellowship program, we provide early career professionals with a cross-sector, interdisciplinary knowledge base of the clean energy landscape. CELI not only focuses on building relationships among future decision makers, but connects them with today's seasoned thought-leaders of the clean energy industry. By providing this education and mentor-ship opportunity, we are building a community of passionate advocates armed with the tools to offer pragmatic and interdisciplinary solutions to our clean energy and climate challenges. With plans of a Fellowship Expansion in 2020, and goals of additional city expansions beyond that, it is critical that CELI establishes and memorializes our organizational culture this year to ensure our vision is achieved. Our Pause will allow us to do just that by bringing together CELI’s Executive Director, City Directors, and twelve additional volunteers for a three-day retreat in Northern California to achieve the following goals: 1. Liz Dalton is the Executive Director of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute. Prior to joining CELI, Liz served in the Obama Administration at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability. In this role, Liz was responsible for executing several of the Department’s critical missions including grid modernization research and development; transmission permitting; emergency response operations; national energy and infrastructure security. An Arkansas native, Liz began her career in public service working for U.S. Congressman Marion Berry (D-AR). She holds a Master’s in Leadership from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and received her B.A. in Political Science from the College of Charleston. Liz currently serves on the Advisory Committee for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Energy and Environment Directorate and is a member of Environmental Entrepreneurs.
Nathaniel ”Nate” Kinsey serves as CELI’s California Director, overseeing the organization’s Bay Area programs. Nate currently works as a Regulatory Affairs Manager with the California Efficiency & Demand Management Council where he represents 85+ member organizations on the implementation of legislation, regulations and policies that grow the energy efficiency and demand management industries in California. Nate also serves at the pleasure of the San Francisco Mayor on the San Francisco Public Utility Commission’s Citizen Advisory Committee as theChair of the Power Subcommittee. Nate previously spent three years with the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) Sustainability Office where he led building de-carbonization, end-use electrification, energy efficiency, and sustainability efforts as the District’s Energy Manager
